Died peacefully on September 20, 2009 at University of Minnesota Hospital of complications related to acute leukemia.
Survived by husband James with whom she shared 57 wonderful years; son Bradley (Caroline); daughter LuAnn Hunt (Randall); grandsons Michael, Steven, Peter; brother Larry Dissmore (Midge); sisters Mitzi Chapman (Tom), Mary Harsha (Robert), Diane Mens (Ward).
Preceded in death by parents Lawrence and Katheryn Dissmore of Menahga, MN.
Born in Park Rapids, MN March 10, 1931. Patricia attended the University of Minnesota and graduated with a psychiatric nursing degree from Glenwood Hills Hospitals in 1950. She married James E. Qualey on April 5, 1952. She had two children whom she lovingly raised. The family moved to Stillwater in 1964 when her husband became co-owner of St. Croix Rexall Drugstore, and “Pat” quickly became involved in her community. She was a member of the Lakeview Hospital Auxiliary and voluntarily ran the gift shop for many years along with serving in most every capacity on Hospital Ball Committees. She volunteered for Red Cross bloodmobile drives, belonged to the Friday Study club, was active in her church, did fundraising for the Courage Center and Ronald McDonald House, served as the community member for the Valley Chamber Chorale for several years, and enjoyed being a member of the Daylily Chapter of the Perennial Garden Club where she cultivated her artistic passion for Ikebana flower arranging. She played tennis and bridge and stayed active until she was diagnosed with leukemia in March 2009. The leukemia took her life September 20, 2009. She will be remembered for her fun generous spirit and her passion for life, as well as her unfailing faith in God.
Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 25, 2009 at ST. MICHAEL'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 611 South 3rd Street, Stillwater. Visitation Thursday 5-8 P.M. at SIMONET FUNERAL HOME, 6429 Osgood Avenue North, Stillwater and one hour prior to MASS at the CHURCH ATRIUM. Interment Fairview Cemetery,Stillwater. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Church of St. Michael, Courage Center St. Croix, or Valley Chamber Chorale.
