Dorothy L. (Hagen) Radke, U.S. Coast Guard-WWII Veteran. Age 86-of Bayport. Born March 29, 1923 in Stillwater. Survived by husband Leonard; children William (Laurie), Richard (Deborah), Lynn (Noriko), Jeff (Pam); grandchildren Jodi (Eric)Snell, Brad (Heather), Gina (Andy) Gollop, Sean (Lisa), Angela, Kenneth; great-grandchildren Kasey and Ryan Radke, Megan and Kendall McCain, Myles and Autumn Gollop, Malachi and Ian Radke; sister Margaret Hagen. Dorothy graduated with honors from the Stillwater High School in 1941. She worked as a secretary at Stillwater High School from 1941-1943 while waiting to turn 20 years old to join the US Coast Guard. While serving on active duty in the US Coast Guard, Dorothy “stood the watch” in the Pacific during WWII. As a Yeoman 2nd Class, Dorothy was appointed executive secretary to the commanding officer while stationed in Hawaii. She married Leonard in 1946 and resided at their home in Bayport until her passing on January 28, 2010. Dorothy was an avid Minnesota sports fan and was a supporter of many local community events including the American Legion, Veterans, National Alliance for the Mentally Ill and Club Houses, Scouts, and church. Dorothy’s passion was for her family and the Bayport community. Mass of Christian Burial 1 PM Thursday February 4, 2010 at ST. MICHAEL’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 611 South 3rd Street, Stillwater. Visitation 2 hours prior to Mass at the CHURCH. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Bayport American Legion Post #491.
