Saranne McGrath Peltier

Surrounded by family, Saranne passed away peacefully on Sunday , February 18th at Boutwells Landing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Peltier, her parents, Ralph and Josephine (O’Brien) McGrath, her brother Ralph William McGrath, and her sisters Jean Simonet and Ruth Hennessey, all of Stillwater. Saranne was born on March 26, 1927 and was a lifelong resident of Stillwater. She graduated from Saint Michael’s Catholic School and Stillwater High School and later attended Mary Manse College in Toledo, Ohio. She returned to Stillwater and never moved away again referring regularly to her hometown as the garden spot of America. Saranne married Raymond Peltier in 1950. Their relationship modeled love, faith and commitment. Together, they raised five children and several dogs and cats. Saranne was a loyal wife, friend, and employee to the Stillwater Clinic where she was commonly known as the appointment lady. She was a member of Saint Michael’s Catholic Church and the Marvelous Bridge Club. We will remember Saranne for her Saturday morning coffee klatch, her love of everything “Christmas”, and her Irish pride; however, we will remember her most as a woman of strong faith who always put other’s wants and needs before her own. Although she lived a long, blessed life, her family and friends will miss her deeply. Saranne is survived by her children, Sarah (Tom) Linhoff, Louis Peltier, Maureen (John Elwell) Peltier, Andrew (Jane) Peltier, Joseph Peltier, fourteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and her many friends. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at the Church of St. Michael, 611 S. 3rd St., Stillwater, MN 55082. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Simonet Funeral Home, 6429 Osgood Ave. N., Stillwater, MN 55082 and also one hour prior to the Mass on Thursday in the church atrium. Interment will be at St. Michael's Cemetery, Bayport, MN. A special thanks to the staff at Boutwells Landing for the wonderful supportive care they provided to Saranne. Memorials are preferred to the Boutwells Benevolence Fund, Saint Croix Catholic School Fund or the Saint Croix Valley Humane Society.
