Donald D. Junker

Donald Junker, age 77 of Stillwater, died March 10, 2014 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. Don was born on February 3, 1937 in Stillwater, the son of Lawrence “Shoes” and Sara (Vailleux) Junker, and remained a lifelong resident. Don was united in marriage to Shirley Swerkstrom on October 3, 1959 at the Church of St. Dominic in Frederic, Wisconsin. He was an active member of St. Mary’s church in Stillwater where he attended daily Mass and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Don made rosaries to send to missionaries around the world, volunteered at the Courage Center, and was active with Habitat for Humanity. Don was extremely proud of all of his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife Shirley; children Ken (Chris), Kevin (Gayle), Monica (Tony) Moore, Randy (Kathy), Marlene Junker, Brad (Liz), Val (Scott) Siegenthaler; 14 grandchildren Alyce, Tanya, Torey, Andy, Audrey, Paul, Brenna, David, Shaylin, Molly, Jake, Ben, Anne, Erin; siblings Art (Mary Lou) Junker, Carol Wiese, and Joanne (Jim) Brown. Preceded in death by parents; siblings Phillip, Bob, Mark and Gretchen Junker. Mass of Christian Burial 11AM on Saturday (3/15) at St. Mary's Church, 423 S. 5th St., Stillwater. Visitation 4-7PM on Friday (3/14) at Simonet Funeral Home, 6429 Osgood Ave. N., Stillwater, with a Rosary service at 7 PM. Visitation also 1 hour prior to Mass at church. Burial at St. Michael Cemetery in Bayport. Memorials preferred to Church of St. Mary or Lewy Body Dementia Association.
