Joe Allard

Francis Joseph Allard Jr., age 75, of Stillwater, Minnesota passed away July 2, 2015, at The Lighthouse of Mahtomedi from Amyloid Angiopathy and Alzheimer’s Disease. He was born in Green Bay, WI, on Nov. 5, 1939, to Francis J. Allard and Marguerite (Simonet) Allard. Preceded in death by his parents and stepmother Rosella (VanVonderen) Allard; infant brother, Joseph; brothers, John, Robert, William and brother-in-law Dale Dahlke. Survived by his wife of 51 years, Carolyn Lepp Allard; and children: David (Jane), Owatonna, MN; Daniel (Anjanette), St Augustine, FL; Marcia Allard (Chad Kissela), St Joseph, MN; and Cheryl (Scott) Hale, Stillwater, MN; grandchildren Benjamin, Nicholas (Katie), Jesse, Isaac, Lauren, Joel, Corrie, Jacqui, Jason, and Claire; siblings Agnes (John) Biese, Rose Mary (William) Robl, Rita Dahlke, Peter (Lynn) Allard, Paul (Judy) Allard; Sisters-in-law Judy Neville Allard and Nancy Allard. Joe graduated from Premontre High School, Green Bay, in 1957 and from Michigan Technological University, BS Chemical Engineering, Houghton, Michigan in 1964. He was an Army Reservist from 1956-1964, with ten months of active duty at Fort Lewis, Washington. He had a successful career as a chemical engineer at 3M Company, working in Duplicating Products, Engineering Research, and Corporate Quality and Manufacturing Services, retiring in 1997 after 33 years. Joe loved bass fishing, camping trips to the BWCA, music (big band, jazz, and ragtime), and keeping up with current events. The sound of his piano playing filled the house many evenings. He kept his body in good condition. Joe was a quiet man with a dry sense of humor. He showed love by living his values and doing the right things. Visitation Tuesday, July 7 5:00-7:00pm at Simonet Funeral Home 6429 Osgood Ave North, Stillwater. Celebration of Life on Wednesday July 8 11:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 16770 13th St. South, Lakeland, MN 55043, with visitation one hour before services. Private burial at a later date. His family would like to thank the caregivers at The Lighthouse of Mahtomedi and Lakeview Hospice and Home Care for their loving and gentle spirit.
