Sandra Gentner Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Sandra (Sandy) Gentner announces her passing on Thursday, December 13, 2018, at the age of 80. Sandy will be lovingly remembered by her children, her many grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Johnson; mother, Mildred (Johnson) Johnk; and step-father, Harold Johnk. She is survived by her sister, Jeri (Jim) McGowan; children, Lori, Mike (Marian), Debbie (Rene) Martinez, Steve (Mary), Tom, Mari (Chuck) Meyer, and David (Eric Johnson); grandchildren, Dennis (Jennifer Curtis), Jessica (Bruce) Wonders, Adam (Julie), Kathryn, Amanda Martinez, Hannah Martinez, Jordyn Martinez, Aidan Martinez, Megan, Tim, Sadie, Dionne (Eric) Hillstead, Tony (Haley) Meyer, Brent (Laura) Meyer, Diane Meyer; great-grandchildren, Charlee Meyer, Josephine Meyer, and August Meyer; and many nieces, nephews, and loving family and friends. Sandy blessed many with her compassion and empathy and will be remembered by her family and friends as a loving sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, devoted member of the catholic faith, and kind hearted volunteer. Her volunteer involvement included being an active Boy Scout den mother to Pack 132, delivering Meals on Wheels, involvement with the St. Paul, MN Winter Carnival, Dress for Success program, and president of the local chapter of the IAAP. She received many awards and was recognized for her hard work and volunteering throughout her lifetime. During her retirement Sandy served as the President of St. Vincent de Paul Society, St. Thomas Aquinas Conference, District A and as the Vice President for the Archdiocese of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Sandy played an intricate part in initiating the St. Vincent de Paul Thanksgiving meal donation program and she was actively involved in acquiring warm winter weather clothes for those in need. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at the Church of Saint Michael, 611 S. 3rd St., Stillwater, MN 55082 with a visitation one hour prior to the Mass in the church atrium. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery. Memorials preferred to St. Vincent de Paul Society and St. Thomas Aquinas Conference.
