Carol Ann Sheffer, age 88, passed away peacefully at 7:45 am on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 in Oak Park Heights, MN. She was a resident of Boutwell's Landing.
Carol was born on October 3, 1937 in Farmington, MN to Grace and Elmer Brosseth. She was the oldest of three children. Carol graduated on June 2, 1955 from Farmington Senior High School, went on to Winona State, graduating on July 17, 1959. As an adult, she earned her Master's Degree from Hamline University in St. Paul. She earned many post graduate credits, enough for a journalism major at the University of Minnesota, and additional credits at various other Universities.
Carol was a lifelong educator. She taught one year at Waseca Senior High, before working for the Minnesota Education Association and then spending the great bulk of her long career as an English and Journalism Teacher in the Bloomington School System. She taught at both Lincoln Senior High School and Jefferson Senior High School where she was the Chair of the English Dept.
She was a lifelong Democrat, supporting the party and also worked in Politics in Bloomington on city boards.
Carol was a world traveler visiting many different countries including Japan, Australia, France, England, Norway, Denmark, Costa Rica and Italy.
In 1968, she married L. Rodney Sheffer, a fellow teacher until his passing in September of 2018. They lived many happy years in Bloomington, and upon their retirements, moved to a Cedar Lake home in Aitkin, MN, and then on to Deerwood, MN on Bay Lake. She and Rodney then moved to Woodbury for several years before going into assisted living at Boutwells Landing in Oak Park Heights in 2018.
Carol was a faithful member of King of Kings Church in Woodbury.
Carol is Survived by her step-son Loren Sheffer and his wife Monika of Stillwater; her grandchildren Amy (34) and husband Brendan Western, Nicole (32) and husband Jorid Keri, Bodie (18), and Summer Sheffer (12); three great-grandchildren Ruby, Marko and Aleksander; two loving nieces Kristie Gates and Kim Laws; her brother Allen Brosseth and his wife Kayce and a nephew. Carol was preceded in death by her husband L. Rodney Sheffer; her parents and sister Ruth McKay.

Carol was a caring and thoughtful teacher to thousands of students, a wonderful wife and step-mom.

Carol was buried at Corinthian Cemetery in Farmington on October 27, 2025 next to her parents as to her final wishes.
