Douglas Michael Polzin, age 59 of Luck, Wisconsin, formerly of Stillwater, Minnesota, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, July 15th 2025. Doug was born on November 27th, 1965 in Stillwater to Robert and Barbara (Harvieux) Polzin. While Doug may have worked as a union carpenter most of his adult life, his true passion were his two young daughters. They taught him selflessness, gentleness, compassion, and kindness. They enjoyed many adventures together, fishing on various lakes around Wisconsin, attending local fairs & rodeos, shopping, & like many girl dads, getting a pedicure here and there together.
Throughout his time on earth, he lived life to the fullest. He spent a lot of his free time outdoors. Whether it was carving trails in the northern woods on his snowmobile, participating in the Northland 300 where he rode 300 miles on his sled to raise money for Minnesota Special Olympics, waiting patiently in his deer or duck blinds for the perfect shot or helping on his Uncle Louie's farm where he was able to explore his passion for farming, outside is where he wanted to be.
While Doug enjoyed the solitude of the wilderness, he also loved the roar of an engine. He had an affinity for jacked-up trucks and watching car races at the local dirt tracks, where he was always in his element.
For years, he worked concert security, with his no-nonsense attitude and a watchful eye he helped keep crowds safe, all while enjoying the music and energy of the events. His life reflected his values: hard work, loyalty, and living every day with purpose and pride. Always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. Whether it was family, a friend, or a complete stranger, he had an instinct to step in and help, only wanting to ease someone else's burden. He had a gift for fixing things, not just with tools, but with his presence, patience, and quiet strength.
Doug will remain in the hearts of his daughters Piper & Payton Polzin; siblings Deb Polzin, Denise (Scott) Hartenstein; nieces and nephews Matt (Jamie), Trace' (Brent), Ellen, Laina, Kari (Dave), Alicia (Wayne), Cassie (David), Troy (Sarah), Katie (Brandon), Kristen; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Barbara Polzin, and brother Donald Polzin.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3 - 7pm on Wednesday July 30th, 2025 at SIMONET FUNERAL HOME, 6429 Osgood Ave. N, Stillwater, MN. Private family interment St. Anne's Cemetery, Somerset, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
