Gary Richard Grant (1951 - 2025)
Gary R. Grant, 74, of Somerset, WI, died at Lakeview Hospital in Stillwater, MN on September 04, 2025.
Gary was born in Omaha, NE in 1951 to Richard and Joyce Grant, and was the oldest of their four children. He graduated from Omaha's North High School in 1970 before joining the United States Air Force as a Fuels Management Specialist in 1975. Gary was a foreman, handyman and truckdriver after retiring from U.S Air Force. He was a member of American Legion Post 111 in Somerset, WI.
He married his high school sweetheart, Catherine (Cathy) Gene Anderson on June 17, 1972 in Omaha, NE. They enjoyed and devoted 59 years together, with 53 of those years in wedding adventures while raising their three children, across three different states and several houses. The family created countless memories while camping, fishing, taking car trips across multiple states and enjoying the great outdoors.
Gary enjoyed woodworking, model railroading and morning coffee with his loving wife, Cathy while sitting outside watching the birds, playing cribbage with his buddies at Greeley Nursing Home and cherished being able to watch his grandchildren grow up. He was active in Cub Scouts when his sons were growing up, serving as Pack Leader, Den leader as well as holding positions on the District Council. Gary was always willing to pass on his knowledge, lend a helping hand to those in need and was very generous with dad jokes and humor.
Gary is loved and will remain in the hearts of his wife Catherine Grant, sister Candice (Steven) Heston of Omaha, NE, brother Bill Grant of Omaha, NE, children Eric Grant of Hudson, WI, Jonathan (Emily) Grant of Somerset, WI, Christine (Rane) Gross of Ishpeming, MI, grandchildren Owen, Maddy, Clara, Wyatt, Elliot and Noah and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Joyce Grant, sister Ann Burns, and various extended family members.
The visitation and service will be at Christ Lutheran Church, 510 Germain St., Somerset WI, 54025 on Saturday September 20th, with the visitation starting at 10am and the service to follow at 11am. There will be a reception for Gary directly afterwords at the church.
