Hugh Slaten

Hugh J Slaten Age 97 Born January 13, 1919. Died October 19, 2016. Hugh was born in Erie, Kansas to Nora O. and Hugh J. Slaten. He was a graduate of Parsons Jr. College where he also played basketball. Hugh was drafted into the WWII Army from 1942 to 1945 and was stationed in Germany where he served as a Tec 5 at a P.O.W. camp. He worked for 18 years at Koch Industries from 1955-1973 and for the state of Minnesota as a boiler technician from 1974-1985 until retiring at the age of 65. Hugh was preceded in death by his first wife, Katherine; and son-in-law, Dennis Feinberg. He is survived by his children, Don (Tide Ramel) Slaten, and Kathy Feinberg; grandsons, Jefferson James Slaten, and Jonathon & Jason Feinberg; wife, Kathleen; stepchildren, Lynn (Mike) Plaster, Vaughn “Buck” (Melinda) Blodgett, Bruce Blodgett, Kerry Blodgett, and Craig (Maureen) Blodgett; and great-grandson, Julian Slaten. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 27th, at Simonet Funeral Home, 6429 Osgood Ave N., Stillwater, MN with a visitation a half-hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
