James "Jim" Larson

James “Jim” B. Larson, age 60, of Stillwater, Minnesota, passed away suddenly on April 18, 2026, at Lakeview Hospital. Jim was born on April 24, 1965 in Black River Falls, Wisconsin to Arthur and Mary (Boyer) Larson. He graduated from Black River Falls High School in 1983 and went on to study engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Jim was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Therese “Terri” Bruno, on September 2, 1990, in Chicago, Illinois. The couple found their home in Stillwater, where they welcomed two wonderful kids, Paige and Michael. Stillwater also gifted them with a beautiful and close-knit group of friends. Providing for his family was always Jim's top priority- he was a brilliant problem-solver and spent his career as an engineer, first with UFE and later with EcoWater. Jim loved to travel and his work often took him across the globe. He also enjoyed numerous trips with his family and particularly the yearly “last annual family vacation.”

In his free time, Jim had a passion for photography. He spent countless hours digitizing and organizing old family photos to ensure memories were preserved. He enjoyed camping trips to the Boundary Waters and also found joy in fishing and golfing. With his sharp mind jigsaw puzzles, sudoku, and geocaching were among his favorite hobbies. He also had a knack for gardening, cultivating both flowers and vegetables in his yard.

Jim will be deeply missed by his wife of 35 years, Terri; children Paige (Connor Anderson) and Michael (Kate Price); siblings Barbara (Bernie) Nortman, Susie (Bill) Homstad, and David (Kathy) Larson; along with numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mary Larson.

A gathering of family and friends will take place on Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 1:00 to 2:30 PM, with a Memorial Service starting at 2:30 PM. Both events will be held at Simonet Funeral Home, located at 6429 Osgood Ave N, Stillwater, MN. Friends and family are welcome to gather at the Larson house to share refreshments and memories immediately following the service. Feel free to come casual— as Jim liked to say “The man makes the clothes, the clothes don’t make the man.”

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Save the Boundary Waters and Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
