John Francis Fahy

John Francis Fahy, 71, of New Richmond, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2026, while receiving care at Lakeview Hospital in Stillwater, Minnesota from complications due to a heart attack a few weeks earlier. In his medical directive John designated that he would be an organ donor. 

Born September 1, 1954, at Flushing Hospital in Queens County, New York City - John was the third son of Irish immigrant parents Thomas E. Fahy, Sr., from Castlebar, in County Mayo and Mary Fahy (nee Cronin) from Killarney, in County Kerry Ireland.

He graduated from the Immaculate Conception School in Astoria, NY in 1968; Monsignor McClancy High School in Elmhurst, NY in 1972 and studied Computer Science at St. John's University in Jamaica, NY. He joined the U.S. Army in 1975, was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri, in an Engineer Unit and served until honorably discharged. 

Before his enlistment, John worked in security services at various hotels in New York City, including the legendary Plaza Hotel (that was once owned by President Trump) and the Helmsley Palace Hotel. John especially loved horse racing and enjoyed the thrill of the race/winning a few bucks at local racetracks. After leaving New York, he worked in Texas and he later moved to Midwest for a better quality of life in the 1980's. He first lived in Minnesota and ultimately settled in Wisconsin.  

He was a great lover of music; playing both acoustic and electric guitars. He was a big fan of Neil Young and the Blues. Buddy Guy, a blues guitarist and singer-songwriter threw John a guitar pick at a concert that he treasured. 

John is survived by his two brothers, Thomas E. Fahy and his spouse, Sheila Conlin; Michael D. Fahy and his spouse, Anita Laitala; his sister Mary Fahy Woehr; nephews, Thomas Woehr and Michael Woehr, as well as numerous cousins. 

John will be interred at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in South Minneapolis, MN on August 13, 2026. Deacon Mead from St. Michael's Catholic Church in Stillwater, MN will lead the graveside prayers, and the Army Honors Squad will provide John with the military funeral honors ceremony.
