Kenneth E. Voss, esteemed attorney, age 95 of Hudson, WI, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2025.
Born on April 10, 1930, in Milwaukee, WI, Ken was the son of the late Andrew H. and Helen L. (Kosidowski) Voss. He spent his formative years on the east side of Milwaukee, nurturing a keen intellect and earning his Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy from St. Francis de Sales Seminary. He continued his educational journey at Marquette University Law School, subsequently obtaining his Juris Doctorate in Law.
On December 31, 1957, Ken married his beloved wife, Charlotte Gutierrez, in Salt Lake City, UT. Together, they nurtured a family of seven children and became a formidable partnership, embodying love, support, and respect in both their marriage and community involvement.
Ken honorably served in the U.S. Army's JAG Corps, stationed in Germany, where he was instrumental in overseeing the implementation of the NATO Status of Forces Agreement. His dedication to justice and the rule of law was evident throughout his life, both in service to his country and in his distinguished legal career.
After two decades as General Counsel for Johnson Controls, Inc., Ken retired but passionately returned to practice at age 74, serving as an attorney with DeWitt Ross & Stevens Law Firm. His extensive career focused primarily on issues within the construction industry, where he navigated complex legal matters for both public and private entities. He was also a respected member of the construction industry panel of arbitrators for the American Arbitration Association. An author of multiple law books concerning the construction industry, Ken's contributions extended internationally, encompassing corporate formation, estate planning, and probate matters.
Outside his professional endeavors, Ken was an avid outdoorsman who cherished hunting, fishing, and boating. A devout Catholic, he was a faithful member of the Church of St. Michael in Stillwater, MN, and previously attended St. Catherine of Alexandria Parish in Milwaukee, WI.
He is preceded in death by his beloved Charlotte, his son Gregory, his parents, and his sister Carol Hoppa. He leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience in his children: Christopher (Nancie), Peter (Pamela), Lisa Ann Cagle (Harry), Michael (Trisha), Timothy (Laurie), and Mark (Lori); as well as 14 grandchildren Elizabeth; Preston, Andrew, Steven, Connor; Charlotte, Katie, Kristopher; Jim, Jake; Nicholas, Hannah; Ryan and Lauryn; brother-in-law Tom Hoppa; many nieces and nephews, and a host of family and friends who will forever hold his memory in their hearts.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Kenneth Voss will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 6, 2025 at the Church of St. Michael, located at 611 S. 3rd St., Stillwater, MN 55082, with a visitation one hour prior in the church atrium. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery accompanied by a Memorial Mass at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in Milwaukee, WI.
