Ronald Gavelek

Ronald E. Gavelek, age 92 of Stillwater, Minnesota, passed away June 15, 2026. Ron was born May 16, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois to Edward and Josephine (Smola) Gavelek. He proudly served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army before embarking on a successful career as an engineer and ultimately retiring as a purchasing agent manager at Univac/Unisys.

Those who knew Ron will remember him for his joyful spirit. He loved to have fun and had a passion for outdoor activities. Whether it was fishing, waterskiing, or snow skiing, he generously shared his skills with his nieces and nephews, creating countless cherished memories. Ron enjoyed boating, golfing, and even crafting beautiful pieces of jewelry that he gifted to family members. He was a kind-hearted soul with a great sense of humor and a knack for leadership.

Ron was preceded in death by his wife LaVonne; his parents Edward and Josephine Gavelek; and brother-in-law David Morgan. He will remain in the hearts of his siblings Charmaine Morgan, Carl (Bernadine), Joan Kelly, and Lynn (Joe) Grosch; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

A graveside service for Ron will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at the Fairview Cemetery in Stillwater. If you wish to attend, please gather at Simonet Funeral Home's parking lot (6429 Osgood Ave N, Stillwater, MN) by 12:55 PM, where we will line up for a procession to the cemetery.
