Ronald Sweep

Ronald K. Sweep, age 66 of Oakdale, passed away on May 11, 2025.

Outdoors was where Ron truly thrived, drawing strength and joy from nature. A quiet and hardworking soul, Ron was known for his stubbornness but had an enormous heart to match. He was a man of adventure, with a pilot's license in one hand and a blasting license in the other.

For 15 years, he proudly worked as an Estimating Engineer at Engineering Construction Innovations in Oakdale, where his knack for numbers made him a mathematical wizard. Ron was always on the move, never the type to sit on the couch.

His love for the outdoors extended to his two gardens, where he tended to apple trees, blueberry bushes, tomatoes, and potatoes, always starting with seeds. He enjoyed fishing and believed in the golden rule of treating others the way you would want to be treated.

Ron was a devoted husband and a lifelong dog lover, preferring the company of his dog Wilbur over crowded gatherings. An Eagle Scout at heart, he was a protector of nature and felt most at home among the trees rather than in bustling crowds. As a gifted storyteller with a wicked sense of humor, he shared countless anecdotes from his job site and personal life, captivating those around him. He found joy in hunting trips with friends in Idaho and Wyoming, and he loved to listen to oldies from the 60s and 70s.

Ron will remain in the hearts of his wife Patty; dog Wilbur; sisters Janice (Roy) Fuerstenberg and Sheri Sweep; brother Luverne Sweep; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Ben and Helen (Appleman) Sweep; sisters Shirley Ann Sweep, Alice Bresnahan, Linda Shelton, and Nancy Kay Sweep.

A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Ron's life will take place from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Simonet Funeral Home, 6429 Osgood Ave N, Stillwater, MN. Interment at Fairview Cemetery.
