Obituary

Harold Earl Sharp, age 82 of Hudson, WI, formerly of Stillwater, MN, passed away August 2, 2023 at his home. Harold was born on January 10, 1941 in Clear Lake, WI, to Russell and Joyce (Leonard) Sharp. He was an exceptional horseman and was an impressive bull rider competing in local rodeos. He graduated from Stillwater High School in 1960 and served in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years. Harold was united in marriage to Kathie Peplinski on December 30, 1961 at the Church of St. Michael in Stillwater. After 61 years of marriage, they were always happiest when they were together. The couple was blessed with four children, Kelly, Holly, Carrie, and Brent.

Harold lived his life with passion and was never content sitting still. Over 50 years he logged well over 1 million miles working as an over the road truck driver never missing an opportunity to tell you that he did that without 1 speeding ticket; something he wished he could say about his kids. Retirement wasn't really in his vocabulary, but he managed to carve out 10 years, from 1998-2008 when Harold and Kathie spent their winters in Casa Grande, AZ where he was active in a Senior's softball league, riding his bike through the desert and making friends everywhere he went. As soon as the snow began to melt, they would make their way back home to spend as much time as possible with their kids and grandkids. Harold also filled his time driving school bus for several years for the Stillwater School district, and continued to work into his 80's with Holiday and Circle K.

Harold loved his family and truly adored his grandchildren. His strong belief in God helped him to never give up through several long-term health issues and 47 years of sobriety. Harold was very active with AA and he touched countless lives as a mentor and speaker. He had a way of connecting with people and a gift for telling stories that would make you laugh, cry and think.

Harold will remain in the hearts of his beloved, Kathie; children Kelly Sharp, Holly (David) Krebsbach, Carrie (Jason) Bast, and Brent (Lisa) Sharp; grandchildren Luke (Brooke) Kjos, Katie (Nick) Olden, Phil Krebsbach, Riley Yeary, Cooper Yeary, Riley Bast, Mitchell Bast, Logan (Ashley) Sharp, and Kennedy Sharp; great-grandchildren Leddy, Leon, Andrew, and Gigi; sister Sally (Bill Petron) Woodrow; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers David and Paul Sharp.
